atrrocious Devoured - Live Murders
style : death metal
Merci ATROCIOUS DEVOURED !

ROCK METAL BANDS (Italy )www.rockmetalbands.com

This can be considered the debut-CD for the French 5-piece, as it includes 5 new songs and 6 re-recorded ones, already appeared in their MCD "Golden Jail" This band seems to be trying to sound as personal, weird and catchy as possible, and they've got it! I know it may sound strange, but if you don't listen to them, you'll just expect a death/grind band as they define themselves. Yet, through a track by track listen, you'll find how many stylistic peculariaties you may find.

"Times" has some grind vocals, furious and fast drumming, but soon some death vocals are added before a final thrash/HM break supported by aggressive - nevertheless not death - vocals. The same aggressive vocals are in the very thrashy "I Don't Like it", including a Heavy Metal bridge a thrash guitar solo; grind vocals and double ones from axeman Antoine Lallart in the blast parts, while "Pain Ecstasy" is an excellent paragon of sprightly grind-thrash. In the title track the thrash break, the brutal death finale and smart lyrics about the killing society's current condition need to be mentioned, so as to reinforce the cover's impact. And then comes the time for "In the Desert Infinite", gifted with a great initial riff, and a grind-thrash solo and refrain, very classy stuff; moreover the drum work is always powerful and various here. Trust me if I tell you this is absolutely the best of the 11 tracks.
Landing like a locusts' attack arrives "Killer Gods", with some hard rock bass lines, mid tempo destructive onslaught and screeching guitars preparing for the brutal conclusion.
"Golden Jail" proves to be dynamic and groovy and reminds me of the latest Napalm Death's riffing, while the short "Murderer" contains a deriding riff separating the grind assault.
"Under Your Eyes" is on the same line of the rest of the album, still stands out thanks to a top-notch melodic break gutturally sustained vocal-wise; cool solo and a merry (yes, you read well, joyful!) repeated riff make it a memorable and odd composition. Were that not enough, you get a stone rain with "Hatred", embellished by the alternation of the 2 singers, and with "Ich Will Hinaus", both tightly grinding from beginning to end, with the latter displaying a final crescendo that takes no prisoners at all.

The songwriting is fresh and the mixing hides the kickdrums a little; I'd've preferred a sharper guitar sound, anyway this is a matter of personal taste; the only plain mistake is in the lyrics, full of small mistakes that won't be recognized live; I am a perfectionist and many won't pay attention to them live or even at home, cuz many don't read lyrics and say: "Whatever!" I think their lyrics are not the most original ones, but I like the fact they've chosen them, since those are still current topics to be treated nowadays unfortunately.

"Live Murders" is an eminent album that will not hit your mind at once but only after some listens, as it usually happens with new or bizarre things, but when you like it, you'll find yourselves listening to it continuously. Have Atrocious Devoured created a new style, 'funny grind'?

After their demo Golden Jail in 2001 the band hits now with their debut full length. As I enjoyed the demo I hoped they continued their work. And yes they have succeed. The songs are pleasure to listen to. Brutal, fast, melodic, thrashy, guitarleads, deep vocals etc. Don't expect some fancy death metal but just a good mind molesting album. Keep on guyz!

ROCKAROLLA (argentine) http://www.rockarolla.com.ar

Njihov pristup nije minimalisticki koncipiran i postavljen, vec dosta složena aranžmanska rešenja i tehnicki kvaliteti clanova benda odvode pricu jednim delom u druge vode.

Ocena: 8,5 / 10

LAERMBELAESTIGUNG (Deutschland) http://www.laermbelaestigung.net

Old skool metal !!! But what kind of metal kould you imagine from this french band ? Well, different influences on this cd : Cryptic Slaughter as well as Macabre and Cannibal Corpse. Imagine a mix of these old bands and you will approach the Atrocious Devoured musik. Old skool thrash metal sometimes, especially with the rythmik and lead guitars. More hard kore, fast and brutal sometimes too. Their artwork is typikal artwork that I found in the 80' years for a lot of hard kore metal bands kovers : a funny gore pikture for a brutal musik. Effikacious ? Well, you will be the one to judge. I have to add that this self released is very professionnal bekause the band recorded it with a high sound quality and they wrote into the book that five percent of all benefits on sale will be offered as food for children and a helping hand for the more threaten among us. Do you will buy it for it or for their musik ? Find your way ! This opus has good parts anyway even if it is not too much new musikally I think. Kontakt :

ATROCIOUS DEVOURED "Live Murders"
2003 CD - Live In Metal
I was totally shocked when I see this album's cover artwork. Finally it
arrived and here I put it into my old an faithful CD player. It is not like
I imagined. To tell the truth I was waiting for something like grindcore and
gore but this is pure grinding death metal! No problem, it is OK too heahe.
Some tracks like "I Don't Like It", "Golden Jail" are better than the rest
because for their being more catchy and powerful. I think they will find
their own way. Also it would be much better if their write more powerful
songs and sing faster. Worth to try. (By the way you can watch their
"Hatred" video on their web-page.) - 5/7 (Semih)

MUSIQUE EXTREME (Argentine) www.musicextreme.com

Here is the new Atrocious Devoured album and it is a good progression from the rpevious one, specially in sound. This is specially evident on the rerecorded tracks from "Golden Jail". Yes, here the guitars soujnd more powerful and clear while the drums are upper in the mix giving more strength to this wild band music. The guitars are fast and wild as always, giving the death metal feeling to the music and adding also some thrash metal to the mix. The vocals are also responsible of the deadly feeling that the music has, being really extreme and screaming (and sometimes guttural). There is double bass drumming and some thrash rhythmic patterns played at full speed thata re the essence of Atrocious Devoured music. Plus we have her interesting tempo and rhythm changes that add diversity. A good step forward for this killer band !

ATROCIOUS DEVOURED 2003
Another band stepping into the extreme zone is Atrocious Devoured and this release has some very cool moments for us bizarre music lovers. Vocally you have your typical Black-Metal schreeching, but at a more mid-tone level. I can live with it. The music is a good mix of traditional old styled black/thrash with some nice suprises thrown in for good measure. I like the raw, razor-sharp guitar tone used and the odd time beats are adventurous at best. I also like how this band dosen't just blast-beat their way through every tune. The inclusion of some adept soloing is also an added plus in my book. Seems like the bar is finally being pushed higher by many bands in this realm and AtrociousDevoured certainly has followed

REVIEWS FROM GOLDEN JAIL ( 6 tracks demo) 2002

MUSIC EXTREME

A bestial band that plays extremely brutal death metal with interesting guitar arrangements. That is what Atrocious Devoured music sounds like. Fats riffs with extremely distorted guitar, drum beats at full speed with some blast beats in some of the tracks, brutal vocals. Everything here is conceived to brutalize the ears. There are some rhythmic riffs in tracks like "I don´t like it" that are designed to add more heaviness to the tracks and that are even more effective than the fastest ones. The sound of the recording is raw and direct so the band has achieved something like a "live sound" on this recording. Here you have a band with power and brutality for headbanging while listening to it.

Favorite tracks: "Hatred", "Killer Gods" and "Live Murders"

GRINDGORE (TK)

As I understand, this french band was born in 2000 year, so, as you see, they're quite new band. And they presented here their first high-quality release here. Yes, their release is qualitative for sure. Neat brutal death metal with touch of death/grind full of blastbeats and fast speeds. Influenced by such bands as Cannibal Corpse, etc. Great sound quality, clear guitars, loud and sharp drums and evil mid growling. Just good work. It's fine brutal death in my opinion. As they said, Atrocious Devoured based on serious professional objectives also Atrocious Devoured have a videoclip and possible it will broadcasts on the MTV, haha!!! So, Golden Jail isn't a masterpiece, but decent brutal death. Get this CD for 13 $ through the band...

METAL RULES (USA)

It appears that my theme of the month is death-grind albums, as this is now the 5th album in that style that I’ve had cross my desk. While the other four have been from the good folks at Deepsend Records, this particular one is from French band Atrocious Devoured.

Formed in 2000, the five lads who make up the band have been experimenting with their music, and finally felt that the six songs presented on GOLDEN JAIL were worthy for release. Since their style is death-grind, you know that it’s not going to take too long to get through listening to this disc, and sure enough, 16 minutes later, it’s all over. Fair enough, but how is the music you ask?

Well, let’s just say that if you didn’t have the band’s bio, the CD case, any artwork or lyrics, and just have the band’s music to judge by, you’d know that this was a young independent band. As it stands right now, the music of Atrocious Devoured is indeed heavy, intense, and brutal, but the song structures, the playing and the overall feel of the music is still somewhat amateur. You can tell that the guys in the band have been working hard at their music, but at this point it’s still not a high enough level to compete with the Nasums, Pig Destroyers, and Cinerarys of the world, for that is the band’s chosen arena.

As I said though, the band is trying, and songs like the title track give hope for the future. Also, “Live Murders” is a good song, using a speedy thrash vibe throughout, and even incorporating some Slayer-ized solos.

This is still a young band finding their own style, and they should improve with time. As it is, if you’re a fan of this stuff, check them out.

Atrocious Devoured - Golden Jail

This demo is from 2001 and contains 6 death metal grindcore songs (only 5 on my copy). The songs go from up tempo to speed tempo. Aggressive vocals, blasting drums and sharpy guitarriffs and fucking great guitarleads. At last some leads back to my ears. I wish they put more solos in their songs. My fav track is "Killer Gods". The songs were fun to listen to and hope to hear the full length soon!
